Recently, Stanford University and Elsevier, the internationally renowned academic publisher, jointly released the 2026 World’s Top 2% Scientists List. Wang Jian, professor at the College of Science, China University of Petroleum (East China) and director of the Joint Laboratory of Cross-Media Big Data, has been included in the annual World’s Top 2% Scientists List for the third consecutive year.

Compiled based on the Scopus database, the World’s Top 2% Scientists List conducts statistical analysis on comprehensive metrics of around 10 million scientists worldwide, including paper citation counts, H-index (a metric for assessing the quantity and quality of researchers’ academic output), co-authorship-adjusted HM index, and citation counts of papers as sole or first author. It identifies the top 2% of scientists globally across 20 scientific disciplines and 174 sub-disciplines, objectively reflecting researchers’ academic contributions in their respective fields and their worldwide influence. The list is divided into two sections: the Career-long Impact List and the Single-year Impact List.
