On May 26, Prof. Jian Wang from the College of Science of China University of Petroleum (East China) was elected as a Fellow of Asia-Pacific Artificial Intelligence Association (AAIA) for his outstanding performance in the field of computational intelligence and its applications.

He is mainly engaged in embedded feature selection model, intelligent optimization theory, big data modeling and other directions of research, neural network model design, fractional order learning theory, large-scale sparse optimization and big data intelligent learning algorithms in petroleum engineering and other fields of research to achieve innovative progress, published more than 200 academic papers, was awarded the second prize of the Natural Science Achievement Award of Liaoning Province, the first prize of the Natural Science Award of the Artificial Intelligence Society of Shandong Province, and the first prize of the Natural Science Award of the Artificial Intelligence Society of Shandong Province. He has won two second-class awards of Liaoning Province Natural Science Academic Achievement Award and the first-class award of Shandong Province Artificial Intelligence Society. He has presided over or participated in more than 10 projects of National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), sub-projects of National Key Research and Development Program (NKRDP), “Belt and Road” Innovative Talent Exchange Foreign Expert Program of Ministry of Science and Technology, China-CEE Joint Education Program, and Petrochina's major science and technology cooperation projects. He is the chairman of the 2022 IEEE International Conference on Computational Intelligence (EDACI) Symposia, the chairman of the 2022 International Conference on Artificial Intelligence (Qingdao) and the Belt and Road Conference on Computational Intelligence, and the chairman of the 2023/2024 International Conference on Recent Advances in Computational Intelligence (ICAI). In June 2024, he was elected as a member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts (Technology and Environmental Sciences).
